That's a good question. A year ago Luke and I got married right here in Santa Barbara. One day when we were praying we felt the Lord say that our first year of marriage would be one of "Incubation"... that we weren't to pursue anything as far as missions or career or anything. We were to just be and love each other and grow together as a newly married couple. So we did and it was AMAZING... probably one of the best years of our lives. We heard that 'word' on Jan 1st 2007. Now a year has gone by since our wedding day November 5th and our hearts are beginning to desire something more.
Right around our 1 year anniversary the Lord began to stir our hearts about what he wants to do with us. One thing we do know is that our calling is the mission field, to serve the Lord with our whole lives... however that may look. So now we are searching and need prayer about where and when. We can sense that something is around the corner but don't know what.
We have had quite a lot of opportunities come up for mission trips but nothing that has struck our hearts as the "one"... We know God will be clear when his time is right ... so for now we are asking for prayer for patience, clarity, good times of prayer, and wisdom. Thank you so much for all who are fighting the good fight with us... may you be so blessed as you continue to stand firm.

The last couple of days when praying for you, I sensed strongly that the Lord wants you to exercise your gifts together more while here. As you know this time of incubation has also been a time of training in complimenting each other's gifts for His Glory! That takes doing as He leads. I'm encouraging you both to step out more at homegroup, at church and in "real life" in ministering together. It will be critical in "the field" that you are able to flow together in this way. It's no longer Bethany's mission trip or Luke's mission trip...it is Luke/Bethany as ONE. Extend grace to each other and honor as you step out in this even more. Prefer one another but be bold in what the Spirit is leading you to do. Communicate with each other, verbally, non-verbally - you know what it looks like in each other. Remember...there is no competition here, it is about HIM.
