Fiesta Fun!

Lately it seems like we have been running into every type of festival on the California coast! Fairs to sports events to concerts.. you name it and California's got it! Yes we are spoiled! Luke and I decided to hang out and goof around on the beach all day before the big event: Fiesta's professional BULL RIDING event at the Earl Warren Show Grounds!!

Our girlfriend Christie Myers was asked to sing the national anthem at this event so we decided to come and cheer her on! We had no idea what a huge event this bull riding was. When you stepped into the arena it felt like you were tele-ported to smack dab in the middle of the mid west. It was honky tonk time now! So fun! Everyone seemed to be having a blast. And the cowboys who were about to go out and ride the bulls were serious business! So cool.

Of course Santa Barbara is so small and we run into our friends Shelly, her husband Taylor, and friend Justin. They've got on all the get up for this event with their blue jeans and cowboy hats on. We were only staying to see Christie sing cuz we had dinner plans with friends so we obviously were NOT dressed for the occasion .
It was so awesome cuz they lit the ground on fire in the letters PBR (Professional Bull Riding) and then all the pros all came out strutting their stuff! Everyone cheered!

Then after they all took their places little Christie was brought out in the middle of it all to sing. We were praying for her that she wouldn't feel nervous. What a brave girl. The cool thing was that the announcer guy had everyone hush while he prayed for the event. Sadly only in a country event would that happen these days . At least somewhere in America people are still giving God some honor. Christie wanted to read another portion of the national anthem before she started to sing. It was from the full original document and it totally glorifies God. So sad we don't sing that part anymore. So stoked she read it aloud reminding us American citizens where our freedom truly comes from.

Here's the video: it's a little hard to hear but so cool anyway.

So fun! After that we bolted to dinner with our friends Dayon and her boyfriend Michael. We went to this DELICIOUS restaurant called Cadario. They had the most amazing Italian food. Our favorite dish was these spinach raviolis cooked in butter and sage. SO GOOD!

Well that was our two days off! God has been so gracious to us in letting us have so much fun in this time of waiting. We are truly blessed! Not everyone in the world is as fortunate as we Americans are to live in such freedom.
