Luke's Trip in Uganda and South Sudan!!

Uganda and South Sudan!
Stories from the trip!

Hello everyone!

Here is a little re-cap of my recent trip to Uganda and South Sudan!

We went with a team of seven…6 guys and 1 girl! Our first stop was Kampala, Uganda where we had a 5 day crusade (a large open-air evangelistic event). Several churches in the area had teamed up to make the week- long gospel campaign a success.

Everyday we would do seminars in a local church where we would teach and preach the word of God to pastors, leaders, and local believers. Then we would have a quick lunch break and head to the crusade field for the evening ministry.

John Faull, our team leader lived in Uganda for 3 years so he was the first to preach the gospel at our first crusade…and showed us all how it’s done :-). Each night a different person got to preach.  One of us would share a testimony, then we’d perform a drama and finally one of us would preach. It was awesome! Every night we saw tons of people respond to the Good News and give their lives to Jesus! When it was my turn, I was so excited to get to preach the same message that radically changed my life when I was 23 years old. Wow! What a privilege, what an honor!

Every time the gospel was preached, God confirmed his Word with miracles, signs, and wonders! It was powerful! There were too many to recount!

Here’s a quick story: One older Ugandan man was hobbling by the crusade field using a crutch when two guys from our team saw him. They chased him down and asked if they could pray for him. He said “maybe later, I’m heading somewhere right now…maybe tomorrow”. They insisted and said if he would receive prayer, God would completely heal him. He finally agreed and was totally healed! He was so happy! He went up on stage and testified how the power of Jesus had touched his body and made him well! He strutted back and forth on the stage, showing off the miracle God had done for him! Praise God!
Here he is...testifying!
Another cool story: Diana, our female team member came up to me while we were praying for people. She asked if I could pray for this young man. For some reason, she felt nervous praying for him by herself. I agreed and began to ask the guy what he needed prayer for. He said he would get really bad headaches and had a hard time sleeping. I was going to just simply pray for healing but I felt to ask him more questions. He then told me that he would hear voices in his head and have demons come into his room at night and torment him. I just knew in my heart that it was witchcraft, which is very prevalent in that area. So I put my hand on his head and began to pray in tongues. Three seconds into praying, he began to manifest a demon. The sweet young man that I was just talking to was gone. He became EXTREMELY violent and started swinging his arms around wildly, knocking people over all around him. I commanded the demon to come out. He fell to the ground growling wildly and continued manifesting, putting up a fight. So Daniel (my teammate) and I and about 6 Africans all tried to pick him up and carry him to the intercession tent just behind the stage. He was so strong and violent we could barely control him! But as soon as we got him to the tent…he went completely calm and we cast every demon out of him. He was totally set free! Hallelujah!

Then we headed to South Sudan. It was the bumpiest 23 hour road trip I’ve ever taken in my life! Haha! Diana even had bruises from the journey! We crossed the border and finally arrived at our destination, a city called Juba.

South Sudan is the most newly formed nation in Africa, being formed only four years ago after decades of war and genocide. Prior to our arrival, they hadn’t had a large scale gospel campaign since the formation of the nation.

A cool story: A group of intercessors had been praying for the crusade for several months before we got there. There was a mountain that overlooked the crusade field and witch doctors would go up there to the “high places” and do their witchcraft over the city. So the intercessors decided they would go up there and pray for 2 weeks to take the spiritual high ground. Well, one of the days they were praying on the mountain a big snake came slithering towards them. Then they all watched as a large rock broke off and fell right on the snake! It actually cut it in half! They all cheered wildly, taking it as a sign of God’s victory over the devil in the area!

We witnessed countless healings and miracles at the crusade. Blind eyes and deaf ears were opened, crippled people walked, pains and ailments of all types bowed to the Name that is above every name – JESUS! King of Kings and Lord of lords! It was so amazing to be a part of. Thousands gave their lives to Him!

Check this out! Before the crusade started each day we would go and join the prayer team in the intercession tent. The team had a list of prayer requests and they would read them off and we would all pray. Well one of the prayer requests was for a woman who was sick. I don’t recall what her sickness was but everyone prayed for her healing. The next day we got the report from her family: She had been really sick and eventually she stopped breathing and died. She had no pulse for 30 minutes. The family was crying and mourning her passing. Then, miraculously her spirit returned and she came back to life! She got up and was no longer sick! She was completely healed! No one even prayed for resurrection but God just did it! How amazing is that! We were so excited!

After 3 weeks in Africa I came back home to Australia to see my pregnant wife! Woohoo! So stoked! Now my mom and dad are here in Oz visiting so we are busy exploring and enjoying the land down under!

Thank you again to everyone who prayed for us! We are so grateful and know that God did so much through the prayers of the saints!

Here are some photos and videos – hope you enjoy!

Bless ya,

Some local cuisine...so good :-).
Every time we'd take a motorcycle or a taxi somewhere we would pray for our drivers...sorry we're just in love with Jesus and we want everyone else to be too!
