A  Man's leg grew out! ...and
We are going to Africa!

Kinda a funny title but yes it's true =) lol...

Here is the latest from the Roque’s on the Sunny Coast…

2015 has been flying! We have been asked to speak on our favorite topic – Evangelism – several times this year already!  It’s pretty cool…the more we speak and pump others up to live like Jesus, the more we get pumped ourselves! Haha!

One quick story: Recently, all the staff were leaving to go on a staff retreat and we were filling up our van with gas. I looked out the window and saw a 50 year old man limping down the street. I felt like one of his legs was shorter than the other…so I jumped out of the van and chased him down. I asked him what was wrong and sure enough one of his legs was shorter than the other, he had been born that way. I asked “do you have a second? I know something that can help you”. He was sweating and in pain from trying to walk. He said “if you could help me that would be great”. I had him sit down on some concrete stairs nearby and I had him straighten out both of his legs. As I held his feet in my hands…I was shocked! One leg was about 9 inches shorter than the other! Trying not to be intimidated by what I saw, I told him “I’m going to pray and Jesus is going to grow your leg out”. I prayed and watched as his right leg slowly grew out right before our eyes! He told me he could feel his leg elongating! His legs were almost perfectly even but the short one was only an inch shorter now! It had grown about 8 inches in about 20 seconds! I then prayed for the pain he had in his right hip…and it instantly went away! He got up and started walking. He had no pain and no limp! I’m believing that his legs will be 100% perfectly even! If Jesus did that much he’ll finish the job for sure! Thank you Jesus!! I asked him where he was headed…and you know what he said? He told me he was going to a church down the road to meet someone for coffee! (He’s not a believer yet). I told him that Jesus is after Him! He said “yeah, I guess so!” Haha! God is awesome!

Another cool story is that while we were down in the Gold Coast for a day we saw this young girl hobbling across the street on crutches. Luke said, "Hey babe why don't we just pray for her real quick." So we stopped her and asked if we could pray. She very willingly said yes and when we prayed we asked her to take her medical boot off to see if her foot was healed. When she took it off she was able to stand completely on two feet with NO PAIN! She walked away with no crutches. God is so cool! We told her Jesus loved her and continued on our way. It's so amazing to walk with Jesus and see him love on people everywhere we go!

Africa...

This year, God has been really narrowing and sharpening our calling. We have been more excited about evangelism than ever! We really feel like we are moving towards mass-scale evangelism…where thousands can hear the gospel of Jesus! We love living what we call lifestyle evangelism, where we love on anybody that we meet as we go about our day…but belly to belly feels too slow! We want to see thousands come into the Kingdom!

Well, interestingly enough our new base leader John Faull invited us to go to Africa with him this July! He and his wife lived in Uganda for 3 years doing crusade style evangelism among many other things. Ever since John lived there he felt like the Lord gave him a burden for the people of Congo, their neighbor just to the west. He has taken two teams across the border into war-torn Congo in the last 2 years. On the first trip two of his African teammates were kidnapped by rebel soldiers and held for ransom! They wanted $100,000!!! (Maybe nobody told them it was a YWAM team…and we aren’t exactly stacking cash haha! ;-) Thankfully the rebels lowered the ransom to $700 and they got their friends back! But this didn’t shake them. A year later they decided to take a second trip and saw over 12,000 people come to Christ in 1 week! #Boom!

So we are pumped to go this July and we are believing for an even bigger harvest! We will spend 1 week in Uganda and 1 week in the Congo doing crusades every night! We’ll also be teaching at some pastors seminars as well as reaching out to the locals on the streets through dramas, preaching, and the demonstration of God’s power through signs and wonders! We believe God is going to teach us so much through this time! Please pray for us as this trip is quite expensive! There’s only two ways to get into Congo: either drive across the border through rebel territory or charter a small Cessna plane…we’ve chosen to go by plane to make our moms happy ;). The total cost for both Bethany and I including our flights to Africa, housing, chartering the plane, food, ground transport, and ministry costs is about $9,000. If you feel led at all to give we would feel so blessed.

John Faull put together a huge fundraiser for the cost of the congo mission. This is just for the cost of the crusade itself, not our own personal expenses. He's going to have to raise $55,000 to put on a crusade for over 100,000 people. We helped as the servers.

Here are some other things we've been up to:

We had an amazing staff retreat all together as a DTS staff team! We went to this macadamia nut farm up in the hinterland (hills) of the sunshine coast…it was so refreshing. We played games of pool and ping-pong, watched movies, made meals together, and just got to bond before all the new students arrived for the new DTS.

Bethany and I also took a 3 day marriage get-away with another couple, our good friends Nato and Pia. It was sweet! The Quiksilver Pro…the first surf contest of the pro tour was going on! Yeew!  Nato is a surfer too so he and I got to surf with and see heaps of pros! We were totally starstruck…but tried to act cool, like we didn’t care haha! We got a hotel with a balcony that overlooked the beach, right next to where the contest was running at Snapper Rocks. God is good!

Bethany got to see an old childhood friend from Hawaii - Nicole. She was traveling through Australia on business and stopped in to say hi. So fun!

Okay and for the grand finale announcement......
Luke grew a mustache... and kept it for like a day. =)

Well that's it for now... love you guys!!!!
